"Black, Brown, & Yellow" is a blog that I have created that discusses topics that you may or may not find "blog worthy". The title "Black, Brown, & Yellow" is a reflection of the way that the African-American society classifies African-American women. However, the topics being discussed will not only focus on society or politics but will vary from fashion, books, reality shows, to music. Enjoy my thoughts...

Perfection
I’ve been told more than once that I should change because, I am getting older and maturity should follow. But, what if I don’t want to change? What if I’m happy with who I am? What if I want to remain the same? What if the only thing I want to do is, evolve but, not change? What if I just want to stay me? If I answer yes to all these questions does that make me ignorant? Does it make me unintelligent? No, it just makes me more grounded in who I am. We live in a world where people are fixated in the idea of changing that we are losing ourselves.
I think to myself maybe my attitude is the reason why I am single but, I like being single. I think to myself maybe my attitude is the reason I don’t have many friends but, I like not having many friends. I think to myself maybe my attitude is the reason I bicker so much with my mother but, ummm…never mind. The fact is those who are content and happy within themselves shouldn’t feel obligated to change because society feels so.
I’m so annoyed with society making decisions for us. I am my own woman and I will change or not change because I want to or when I want to. I hate to blame society for this entry but blaming just my community isn’t fitting enough.
Society reminds of that jealous, controlling, “I want my cake and eat it too” boyfriend that always has something negative to say about you but, will never break up with you because he knows no other woman will take him and his bullshyt seriously. Society reminds me of that work supervisor who is so afraid of losing their job that they make any and everyone miserable who is around them. Lastly, society reminds me of that person who tells you to strive for the best but they themselves are too afraid of failure to strive themselves.
Moral of this post is…always be yourself. Look at the person who is telling you to change. Chances are, they want you to change so they can replace you….
STAY FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL, AND UNIQUE……until next time readers.
